The SICOMAR plus project (MARINE CONTROL SYSTEM), lasting three years, is the continuation of SICOMAR, and was funded under the 2014-2020 Interreg Italy-France Maritime Program. The project intends to address in an integrated way the issue of safety at sea and the control of the marine environment on a cross-border area of extraordinary wealth, whose heritage has been strongly threatened in recent years by the increase in traffic of goods (especially dangerous) and of passengers crossing the Northern Mediterranean for work or tourism. The area of interest is the Pelagos Sanctuary which is the main Protected Area of Importance for the Mediterranean (SPAMI).
